About

The NYC Sabres, founded in 1998 by Thomas Law, with five ambitious young girls from the New York Chinatown Community.  Tom started this program with the goal to promote female basketball in the Asian community and to bridge cultural and generation gaps.  After six years of being a solid team and substantial growth, the NYC Sabres, Inc. officially became a 501(c)-3 not-for-profit organization.  Since then, the program has vastly grown with 37 members at ages ranging from 9 to 30 years old.  Members of the NYC Sabres competes in local tournaments as well as tournaments held nationwide.  In addition to promoting Asian female basketball, the members actively engage in various types of volunteer work within the local community including, but not limited to, assisting other non-profit organizations.  After ten years in the making, the organization continues to grow where a larger vision lies ahead.
